Carteret County Senior Games
April 25, 2008 - May 12, 2008

Carteret County Senior Games is a year-round program that promotes health and fitness for persons 55 and older.  The components of Senior Games are: sports competition ranging from Archery to Track events; SilverArts which include visual, literary, performing and heritage arts; Silver Striders - a walking club for persons 50 and older; and Silver Liners - a line dance competition.  in addition to the competition, Senior Games offers: sports training, wellness workshops, event clinics, art shows and literary readings.

   In 1983, North Carolina Senior Games began with a vision to create a year-round Health and fitness Promotion Program for North Carolinians, 55 years of age and older.  Today, senior adults throughout the State participate in Senior Games.
   Carteret County Senior Games was first sanctioned by the North Carolina Senior Games in 1987.  Since then, over 100 senior adults have been participating each ye

To provide senior adults the opportunity to be healthy, active and involved.
To provide a year round program that promotes health and fitness for persons 55 and better.
To provide a safe, fun and competitive experience.
To encourage individuals to work toward qualifying for State Finals and the National Senior Games.

   In addition to offering more than 35 sporting events and activities, Carteret County Senior Games offer a variety of health, educational and recreational opportunities; wellness workshops, health screening, fitness information, health expos, health and fitness workshops.
