Cape Lookout Summer Programs

North Carolina Coastal Federation guided tours to study Barrier Island Ecology and Explore the Tidal Flats at Cape Lookout National Seashore. Boating Safety

Instructors from the NC Wildlife Resources Commission cover basic information on how to safely handle personal watercraft in NC waters. June 10 & 11, 6:00 pm, at Western Park Community Center. For additional details, click on Boating Safety Course flyer.

Camp Sunshine

  • Fun, educational, and active day programs for young adults who are intellectually challenged
  • July 7 through 11 - and - July 28 through August 1

Dog Obedience Classes

This course is for dogs 6 months and up. Owners/handlers must be age 16 or older. Those (dogs and owners both) under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Program registration required for participation. To register, contact instructor, Debra Peterson at 252-726-4985. Class size is limited.

Boating Safety & Education Course

The Wildlife Resources Commission will be instructing a free boating safety and education course. This basic boating course includes information about boat operation, legal requirements, handling emergencies and other information. This course certifies participants to operate a personal watercraft (PWC) in North Carolina. All ages are welcome to attend. For more information, please call (252) 808-4067. Hunter Education Course

Course is offered at Western Park Community Center in Cedar Point by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission free of charge. The course, 10 days hours over 3 days, must be successfully completed before purchasing a hunting license and stresses safety and education. Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Carteret County Parks and Recreation Department offers two (2) Easter Egg Hunts for children ages 3-12 at Eastern and Western Parks. Those who participate are provided with a controlled and sponsored Easter Egg Hunt activity. Look for a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny!

Jamborees (Monthly)

These dances are held once a month for citizens with mental/physical disabilities and are sponsored by Carteret County Parks & Recreation Department. Every month consists of a different theme and provides two hours of fun, food, and dancing.

Hot Wax Surf Camp

A Surf Camp presented by Hot Wax Surf Shop in Emerald Isle for ages 7 to Adult. Instruction is geared for both beginners and intermediates and includes basic fundamentals, intermediate and advanced surfing tips and ocean safety. All instructors are Red Cross Life Saving certified, Ocean Safety, CPR and First Aid trained. Private or group classes are available as well as a variety of camps.
