Park Watch
Park Watch is similar to the Neighborhood Watch program in which neighbors watch each other's property and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. We are asking you for help in protecting YOUR parks.
The Price We Pay
- Carteret County Parks & Recreation Department pays out hundreds and, in some cases, thousands of dollars each year to clean up graffiti, repair structures, and replace vandalized equipment. This is money which could be used to buy better maintenance equipment or improve existing facilites.
- Local Governments and taxpayers (your parents, your neighbors, and even yourselves) pay the bills for broken signs, damaged equipment and vandalized parks.
You Can Take A Stand To Prevent Vandalism
- Educate the public, especially young people, about the cost of vandalism
- Support recreational programs for young people in your community
- Volunteer your time, donate money or supplies, and help in any way you can
- Involve young people in all vandalism prevention efforts
- Adopt a park, perhaps in cooperation with a church or business
If you see park property being damage, call your local authorities. To report vandalism or problems at any Carteret County Park, call (252) 728-8579.
