| New Park In Newport |
County Commissioners approved funding for a community park next to the Newport Middle School on 11 acres that were donated by the Board of Education in exchange for improvements to the middle school ball fields. Construction, expected to take up to 3 years, will begin in the Fall of 2008. For additional information click on the new Newport Park fact sheet.

Newport Pop Warner Registration

- Newport Pop Warner and Cheerleading, ages 4 through 13

| Seashore Soccer League |
Soccer practice starts the week of August 18, with games scheduled to being September 6. If you missed sign-ups you might try calling the soccer commissioner for your area, as show on the Youth League Contacts page. Game schedules will be posted on the Seashore Soccer League website. |
| Swinson Park Tennis Courts |
The new tennis courts in Swinson Park are complete, except for lights. Courts will be closed for light installation beginning June 23; work should be completed by July 1. |
| Freedom Park |
The Town of Beaufort is doing work near Freedom Park on the waste treatment plant. The Town is erecting fence at Freedom Park for safety purposes. Please be aware of this construction, which will mean alot of heavy trucks using the road daily from about 6 am until at least 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Carteret County Parks and Recreation thanks the Town of Beaufort for taking these precautions to protect park patrons.
